Hello, world! ๐
I am a Lecturer at the Dept of ECE, North South University (NSU) , Dhaka. I completed my Master's in Computer Science from University of New Brunswick. While in UNB, I worked at National Research Council, Canada (NRC-CNRC) with Dr. Shahrear Iqbal. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
I worked as a Software Engineer for 3 years at several reputed organizations and startups such as Enosis Solutions, Samsung R&D Institute, Bangladesh, Tandm International, Australia where my work focus and tech stack varied between web development using AngularJS, .NET MVC and .NET Web Form, desktop Samsung Notes app with UWP (Universal Windows Platform) framework, testing and development Visual Studio.

Projects โ๏ธ
Throughout my undergraduate and graduate journey, I had done many assignments and projects. Some of them are listed below.
- FoodSquare
This is a web app that I prepared with my classmates as a Software Engineering term project. The Model and Controller was prepared using Django framework, while the View consisted HTML, CSS, Javascript. I implemented most parts of the frontend here. - Interactive Sandbox
Interactive Sandbox is a lightweight, Tkinter-based desktop tool for running interactive programming challenges locally. What is an interactive problem? The purpose of the tool was to use it personally, but later it was decided to make it public. The code was written with the help of ChatGPT, and the entirety of the code is in Python. I have plans to convert it into a web tool in future, with probably using ReactJS framework. - Hospital Management System
This is a Java project prepared by using Oracle database to manage a hospital database and JDBC. I implemented the database side and worked on SQL in this 2 person project. -
Rolling Ball
Rolling Ball was my first project in my undergraduate days, in the first semester of BUET. This is an OpenGL game which is inspired from the famous Nokia mobile game Rapid Roll. Using simple C code, this was a fun, lightweight implementation of the game. - Smart Carrier
In this hardware project, we built an autonomous car which can carry small objects as well as follow a map virtually. An android app was also built to draw the path for the carrier which was transmitted to the car to follow. Demo of the project is available on the link above. ATmega-32 was used and C language was maintained for the coding.
Research ๐ฌ
- Domain Knowledge Management for Automated Threat Defense: Methods, Challenges, and Opportunities
Keywords: Knowledge Graphs, Intrusion Detection, Security Automation, Red-Blue Team ActivitiesDuring my Research Assistant internship at NRC, I worked on acquiring and organizing domain knowledge for knowledge graph representation in the context of intrusion detection and security automation, with a particular focus on red-team and blue-team activities. This work resulted in a literature review paper that has been submitted for publication, co-authored with Dr. Euclides Neto and Dr. Shahrear Iqbal. - A Birth-Death-Migration Model for Alignment-Free Phylogeny Estimation using k-mer Frequencies
Keywords: K-mer, Phylogenic tree, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Alignment-free Method, Birth-death-migrationGiven a collection of species' genetic information, we investigate alignment-free methods for phylogenetic tree reconstruction. In particular, we propose a model of k-mer frequency evolution based on a birth-death-migration process, which can be used to estimate maximum-likelihood phylogenies directly from k-mer frequencies. The thesis was supervised by Atif Hasan Rahman, Associate Professor, CSE, BUET.
Education ๐
- 2023-2025 Master's in CS from University of New Brunswick, NB, Canada
- 2016-2021 Bachelor's in CSE from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka, Bangladesh
Awards ๐
- Samsung organizes the SWC Professional Exam monthly for its employees, with only a limited number of participants achieving a passing score. In August 2022, I successfully passed the exam. The contest problems are designed to assess both competitive programming skills and system design thinking through a combination of algorithmic challenges and mini system design tasks.
- The Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad is a highly prestigious national competition that serves as a pathway for selecting and training Bangladesh's IMO team. Comparable to the AMC 12/AIME track, it attracts top mathematics students from across the country. In 2011, I earned the "Champion of the Champions" title in the Junior Category, recognizing me as the top performer among category winners nationwide.
- Participated in the Inter-University Programming Contest organized by SUST (Shahjalal University of Science and Technology) during CSE Carnival 2019. Competing as a member of team BUET_CodeforFood, we achieved 20th place in the final rankings.
Miscellaneous โจ
Well, since we're here already, I'll just talk a little bit about my personality.
- I am (or perhaps used to be) a voluntary blood donor. Whenever I get the opportunity, I try to donate blood to the people in need. Already I have donated blood 7 times, last donated April, 2022.
- Besides Bangla and English, I intend to learn Spanish and French as well in the future. Currently, I have a 810+ day streak in Duolingo and I'm gonna pretend that it's a reasonable substitute for actual fluency.
- During my student years, three friends and I started a YouTube channel called Psi Squared where we created videos explaining various Computer Science topics in Bangla. The project did not last as long as we had hoped, but the videos are still there if you are curious.
- I enjoy watching TV shows and movies, particularly crime, thriller, and mystery. Comedy is usually not my first choice, although Silicon Valley and The Office remain notable exceptions
- I consider myself a gamer, though perhaps not in the conventional sense. I tend to gravitate toward indie titles and single-player experiences rather than competitive online games. At the moment, I am alternating between Baba Is You (roughly 100 MB) and Elden Ring (well over 40 GB), which seems like a reasonable balance.
- I care deeply about animal welfare and have a particular fondness for cats. More broadly, I enjoy learning about wildlife and nature, which is probably why I never get tired of listening to Sir David Attenborough narrate the natural world.
